A man was shot and killed near the Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler early Thursday morning, police say.
The Gila River Police Department said the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. in a parking garage near the casino.
Gila River officers were in the casino parking garage on a call for service when they heard gunfire on the third level of the garage, so they went up and saw a man shooting at a woman running away while another man laid on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, according to a statement from the Department.
The officers shot at the shooter, who shot back at officers, although nobody was struck, according to police.
Officers then chased the man and took him into custody, and he was taken to a hospital, police said.
The other man who was already injured died. No one else was hurt, police said.
Police did not name the three and are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
The parking garage was closed during the investigation, but the casino itself remained open.
Although police were still investigating the relationship between the three, they said 'this was not a random act of violence' and that there are no outstanding suspects.
The investigation was ongoing.
